Hex Mat

I made a hexagon play mat for the soon-to-be-born baby of my Settlers of Catan playing friends! Two years ago I made a quilted play mat for my cousin and was planning on making something similar for this baby. Then, while browsing Ravelry, I came across this Snugglers of Catan Quilt and had to make something like it!

The hexagons are knit using this Knit Hexagon Pattern by Knitty Rosy. Her blog is Knitty, Vintage and Rosy. I used super bulky yarn to knit seven hexagons; the finished play mat measures approximately two feet in diameter. For more yarn and knitting info you can look at the Ravelry project page.

  1. Beautiful work, and love the color combination. Could you tell me please what method you used to join the hexagons, as the seams are lovely also. Thank you for your help.

    1. Thanks Donna! I just did a mattress type stitch, nothing fancy.
