Lion Mask

After reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and considering possible projects from my DIY books I decided to make an Aslan mask for my Craft Book Club project.

This mask was made with a plastic mask base, craft foam, hot glue, and paint so it didn't follow a project from Tan Huaixiang's Costume Craftwork on a Budget (It goes through the techniques of creating a mold of someone's face then making different types of masks to fit. I didn't have the time for that and didn't want to put that much effort into a silly mask.), but it did use some techniques from making Wonderflex masks. Here are a few progress photos:

I was planning on giving the mask more texture with puffy paint, but I totally forgot to add it before spray painting! There is a little hole on the right side where some wet paint got on the back and stuck to cardboard while drying. Since I'm going to try to fix the hole and will need to spray paint it again, I'll put some puffy paint on the mane and maybe add some highlights to the face.

Wendy made her The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe craft project too. She made snowflakes!

Our next Craft Book Club book is The Call of the Wild by Jack London. I just started reading it for the first time... wow, there is a lot of blood!
