I made these gem shaped blocks from wood scraps! With the help of my father and his various saws, we took a piece of 2x4 and cut it into small angled blocks. (It was a little bit tricky, but we still have all our fingers!) After the blocks were cut to size, we sanded them and I painted them with some fun neon colors.
Deciding on the container for the blocks was a little difficult, but I was at the store and found a plastic gem shaped box to use that ended up being a bit large so I had to add an extra something.
That knit ball I shared last week was turned into a cute dragon softie because dragons and gems go together. All dragon parts that weren't the ball don't have a pattern, I made it up as I was knitting.
And I have to share the cute wrapping! My mom showed me a trick to make unwrapping presents easier and I think I'll be using it often. You take a length of ribbon and place it under the wrapping paper, putting a piece of tape at the bottom to hold it in place and looping it at the top sticking out so you can pull it. See the picture below, my explanation isn't very clear.
To open the package, just pull on the ribbon loop and it will tear open the wrapping paper! So Much Fun!!!
Soooo cute! And does it open like a pack of gum, or cigarettes?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, the pull string packaging opens like both of those.
DeleteIm going to have to try that!
