A few years ago I was in a second hand shop and spotted a burgundy colored bench with a fun shape across the room. When I got up a bit closer it was obvious the bench had seen better days (tattered upholstery and some water damage), but it was only $5 and I couldn't pass. I wanted to recover the bench so it would be a nicer place to sit and put my shoes on compared to the step in my "mud room". The bench was from Ikea (Pastill from 1999) and shortly after purchasing it I found some fantastic fabric at Ikea (PS 2014 collection) that would be perfect for the cover. Fast forward to Tuesday where we had a Crafternoon get together and were working on some simple sewing projects. I decided it was finally time to give this bench a makeover and it turned out great!
I didn't think ahead to get a "before" photo, but trust, it definitely needed a makeover. [UPDATE: I found a before picture.] This project has been on my to-do list for, it turns out, 3 years and I am so pleased with how it has finally turned out. I started by spray painting the legs white, then spent a few hours Tuesday afternoon fitting a snug cover for it. It was a really easy project and shouldn't have taken me so long to start.
Now I need to tidy up my "mud room" so my cute new bench doesn't look out of place.
This turned out fantastic!! It looks much better!
