Today I'm sharing my August
Craft Book Club project! We read
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery! I wanted to remodel my bathroom to make it yellow like one of the character's, but that wasn't really in my budget. Ultimately I was inspired by Manuela's treats and the very ripe bananas on my counter and decided to make a banana soufflé following a recipe from
The Art of French Baking by Ginette Mathiot. If you read the title of this blog post, you noticed that my results were not optimal. This may be due to several reasons, but I'm fairly certain it was the extra water I added to get the bananas to puree in a blender. On a positive note, I made my first béchamel sauce as part of this recipe and it turned out great in spite of the panic I had as I added the hot milk. I have some more bananas that are already looking extra ripe so I'll probably try this recipe again this week. Hopefully this try will be edible.
