Seed Collecting

I didn't have many garden posts this year because nearly everything died early on. One thing that did survive were the garden huckleberries. Since the rest of the garden was in such a sad state, I had the garden huckleberries in a container on the front porch. They were quite late to fruit since I was so late to start them so I was bringing them inside when I feared frost would keep them from fruiting. My patience payed off because I was able to harvest enough berries to collect seed! I made sure to only keep the most ripe/purple fruit so the seed was more likely to be viable this was my haul, barely a handful of garden huckleberries. If they had even a touch of green I tossed them in the yard while I was cleaning up my harvest. I wonder if any of those rejects will start growing next spring!
