A Baked Apple

March's Craft Book Club read was Donuts and Other Proclamations of Love by Jared Reck. I knew right away that I needed to make something with apples because the protagonist is tasked with saving lots of apples from the landfill and makes some yummy treats. A few weeks ago I decided I would make a baked apple treat and finally made this last night! It looks okay, but tasted great!

Baked Apple

I didn't measure anything, but here is the general procedure for making your own: First, remove the cores from your apple, but leave the bottom intact (make an apple cup). Then dice another apple (one extra apple per two apple cups) and saute it with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. In a bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon then cut in some butter. Assemble by filling the apple cups with the sauteed apples then topping with the oatmeal crumble and bake. There are definitely recipes for this that exist on the internet if you don't want to wing it like I did.

The Craft Book Club for April is Greek Mythology - The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook by Liv Albert. I realized I don't know much about Greek Mythology and want to remedy that!
