Over the weekend I put together my vegetable garden plan for this year! 2012 is the year of the flowers!
Here is a list of the fruits & vegetables that I am planning on planting:
Cucumbers
Zucchini
Spaghetti Squash
Watermelon
Honeydew
Lettuce & Spinach
Carrots & Radishes (maybe some beets too)
Tomatoes (Belize Pink Heart)
Bell Peppers
I will be planting lots of flowers to help keep pests away and make my garden look pretty. Sunflowers for the cucumbers (I read that they are sweeter when planted with sunflowers, but don't know how true this is), Nasturtium to keep the squash bugs away, and marigolds for the tomato plant and general bug repelling. There will also be more flowers in my front yard, not sure what they will be yet though.
Here is my seedling progress. The bell peppers (the three littler ones on the left) have finally sprouted! My tomatoes are doing well; I used seeds I saved from last year and was afraid they wouldn't grow, but they are doing great!
So far I have only started the bell peppers and tomatoes. I need to figure out when I want to start everything else, but there is still a bit of time; May 10th is the last frost here.
