Spider Pendants

One of my "Crafting Intentions" for 2013 was starting a craft book club. I haven't come up with a clever name for this book club where we make crafts, but as soon as I do (or you do, leave suggestions in the comments below) I will make a side bar button linking to the book club's page. This club is totally legit and has its own page on this site listing all the books we have (and will) read and links to our projects too!

The first book was The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and I decided to make spiders!

There are a lot of superstitions in the book (my favorite is if you have a hairy chest you will be rich) and spiders are supposedly lucky; plus spiders make a few appearances in the book. I'm not superstitious (it's bad luck to be), but I found a spider superstition rhyme that I am sharing with you:
Kill a spider, bad luck yours will be
Until of flies you've swatted fifty three.
I made these spiders by following this simple beaded spider tutorial by My Laughing Lion. They are made with white stone beads, black glass beads, and colorful wire! I gave the green spider a loop so I could hang it on a necklace. These spiders would look totally awesome on a bejeweled spider web! The amazing spiderweb is from Simen Johan's 2003 Evidence of Things Unseen.

Next book is Peter Pan by JM Barrie. I just started listening to Jim Dale reading it!
