Lots of Tomatoes and Some Fungus

Since I last gave an update on my little vegetable garden I have most of the overgrowth under control. My tomato plant was getting so tall I had to cut off the top then the next thing I knew there were a thousand tomatoes! The zucchini plants are doing fairly well, the hot days make me dread going outside so I didn't give these buggers the extra water they needed during a particularly warm period and a few of the little zucchinis that had started growing dried up. It was a bit sad, but I am getting enough zucchini and my coworkers are probably sick of zucchini bread.

The really sad news is that my pumpkin plants got powdery mildew! It happened during the particularly warm period mentioned above where I avoided my gardening chores. The plants were covered with the nasty stuff so I cut back a lot of the foliage, but was afraid to do too much because I wanted the plants to keep growing. After removing most of the infected leaves I treated the plants with a fungicide that may or may not have helped. There is still quite a bit of the powdery mildew on the leaves and vines, but the pumpkins are still growing and ripening! I actually harvested one little pumpkin already, the day I found the powdery mildew the pumpkin mostly fell off the vine when I was inspecting it. This weekend I may roast it and make some pumpkin bread (it may even be pumpkin-zucchini bread)!
