The knit jackalope is complete! Tuesday night I stayed up late attaching the ears and antlers, and stitching on the eyes and nose. I think it turned out pretty great! I'm actually really impressed with my eye embroidery; look at how awesome they are.
I followed the Jackalope pattern in Amigurumi Knits by Hansi Singh to make this softie. The pattern is for intermediate knitters and I did fairly well. There are several wrap stitches that I didn't pickup to hide; I had some trouble picking up stitches on the inside portion of the ears, but they look fine; and I knit the third prong of my very first antler on the wrong side making it look funky so I redid that (one of the attached antlers is a little bit twisted too). Overall this jackalope looks pretty great. It does have a little trouble sitting up though, it likes to crouch down, ready to pounce at any moment. Watch out! Watch out!
This was my first project from my make-something-from-every-craft-book-I-own resolution and my second for all my crafting intentions for the year. The other project was this frogged crochet extra giant snowflake necklace that I have actually made again in a reasonable size and will share with you next week. My crochet skills have improved!
This little guy is adorable,
