Tin Man Diorama

Here is the tin man terrarium diorama I made for my The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum Craft Book Club project!

Untitled

There is a lot of static inside so the moss from the forest floor is clinging to the sides of the diorama! I am going to try wiping the inside walls with a dryer sheet, using a tissue didn't help remove the moss dust at all.

The container for this Wizard of Oz diorama is a plastic kitchen canister. I used decorative floral moss as the forest floor, a plastic Tin Man and yellow brick road Happy Meal toy, and faux floral pine tree pieces hot glued to tree bark for the tree.

After unplugging the hot glue gun and cleaning up my mess I found another "branch" of the faux pine tree that my cat Winslow was playing with and hid from me so I have several more pine tree pieces to add to the tree if I want. Here is the 360° view, I think the tree could use a few more pine needles for fullness:

This was my first time reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and I was surprised that Dorothy's shoes are SILVER not red and the flying monkeys aren't really as horrible as they are in the movie! I've been enchanted by the land of Oz; I watched Oz the Great and Powerful for the first time the other day and have chosen Wicked by Gregory Maguire as our next Craft Book Club book!

  1. I like the diorama, very good use of the Tin Man toy!

I am falling behind in the crafting portion of this club. And I have no idea what to do for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

My biggest surprise was probably the real role of the flying monkeys --- I won't spoil it for others, but(you are right) they aren't horrible.
