Phases of the Moon

After three months I've finally finished my Craft Book Club project for Jack London's The Call of the Wild! My original post about these phases of the moon said I was going to make the background look like the Northern Lights, as you can see below I ended up painting the background black.

Phases of the Moon

The moons are made of silver foil. I painted some school glue onto the dry painted canvas following handmade templates for the moon shapes. Once a thin layer of glue was applied, I place a piece of silver foil on top and pressed into place with a foam sponge. Any areas that ripped or needed extra coverage had small scraps of foil pressed on top. After the glue was completely dry I brushed away the excess silver foil and admired my work.

Here is the full set of the moon's phases. I need to figure out how and where I'm going to hang them!

Our next book for Craft Book Club is really a collection of stories, Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales! I know the basic plots several of his stories and had previously started reading them, I've decided to finally read them all and would love for you to join me! My tentative Craft Book Club project is to make a miniature garden/house for Thumbelina. I really enjoy dioramas!

    1. Thanks!
Craft Book Club is a really cool club I created. We read books then make crafts inspired by the book like we did in school. Membership is open, you should join!
