Flummery

Craft Book Club projects are back to a monthly occurrence! Today I'm sharing the first project since August, that is a long hiatus! In December I decided to add three books to the list that I haven't read, but have been residing on my bookshelf. Please leave suggestions for upcoming books in the comments below!

It took me a long time to decide what to make for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. Initially I wanted to make a knife, but then didn't want to put in the time/effort to make a knife and didn't know what I'd do with a knife. Regency era clothing was another idea, but again didn't want to put in the time/effort and didn't know what I'd do with a costume piece. So I finally decided on food, a jelly, and found a recipe for Flummery from a cookbook called, Dinner with Mr. Darcy (how appropriate).

Untitled

Flummery is a milky almond jelly and would have been something that could have been served at the ball Mr. Bingley's hosts at Netherfield. I don't have any fun gelatin molds so I poured my mixture into snowflake molds and the rest into a small round bowl. The jelly is okay, I preferred the warm almond flavored milk and might start adding almond flavor to warm milk and drink that as an alternate to hot cocoa. Yum.

Our next book for Craft Book Club is Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet.
