Ready for Transplanting

I've been spending a lot of weekends away from home lately so I feel behind on my gardening and yard projects. My seedlings have been growing pretty well even though I did not replant them in larger containers. Some of the squash plants even have flowers; once I get them in the ground I expect they'll spread out quickly!

One of the big projects that I have been working on is making new beds for strawberries. This project is practically done, I just need to add a bit more mulch on one side for the walkway. It turns out that I had six strawberry plants survive the winter in their temporary home, I was pleasantly surprised that so many lived so only bought two plants to fill in one of my four new strawberry beds.

Another exciting development in my garden is the sunflower seeds I planted along the fence in the alley are sprouting! It is so nice to see the little guys pop up out of the leaves, I'm really looking forward to them blooming later this summer!

You can check out more photos of my garden in my flickr album. This weekend I'll be home and will spend a bit of time planting my seedlings! I'm hoping everything will be alive and growing strong in the next garden update.
