Garden Update

Here are some things that have happened in my garden since my last update: I've harvested the carrots and some rhubarb. The rhubarb plants are growing like maniacs so they will get divided this fall! Hurrah for even more rhubarb next year!

My seedlings have grown quite a bit. The sunflowers are doing pretty good, but the other day my little pumpkin/squash plants were wilting then those leaves turned black, I hope it was just from me being inattentive with the water instead of a more serious issue. I've purchased some zucchini plants to live with the pumpkins and set out a little homemade bug trap to keep the bugs from eating them to little nubs this year. I hope the trap works or the bugs decide my plants aren't delicious.

The biggest garden project is not in my vegetable garden, but in some flower beds. Last year I started a little flower garden area along part of my fence; it is doing really well even though I haven't been very diligent with my weed removal. This summer and fall I plan on expanding it and filling in more of my yard with flowers; over the weekend I bought a few new plants for another flower garden area and stuck them in the ground. I've got a lot of work ahead of me, but mostly need patience for the plants to grow and fill in the space.
