More Flowers

The flowers are still doing great. The only other thing I have to report on are my new filbert trees! Shortly after my last garden update, I planted three little hazelnut trees. They are doing okay with this extreme  heat, I'm giving them big drinks twice a week and have covered the soil around them with bark to help keep them from drying out. The little trees are definitely smaller than my sunflowers that are doing really well on what I've realized is no water (forgot to run a line to them after making sprinkler adjustments); they only have had rain water!

Other flower updates: my sweet peas are growing long and don't like to use the trellis, I have to wrap their little twisty vines around the rope myself and hope they stay up. Once they are attached, they stay put, but new growth flops over. Even so, they are making pea pods! I don't need the seeds since I bought so many this spring, but I'm very excited!

The new little lavender bushes are starting to fill out a tiny bit; this is the biggest of the bunch, it has some flowers! I still need to cover the area with mulch, but I want to put the border pavers in first. This area is my new strawberry garden; I have yet to put in any replacement strawberry plants (because of the heat), but the survivers are doing great! They have little runners already! So exciting!
