Starting Seeds

I'm finally making some progress on my vegetable gardening! All the seeds have been cataloged and entered into my nerdy gardening spreadsheet that recommends when to start seeds based on last frost and when plants will be ready for harvest. And two weeks ago I finally started some seeds and left them in the garage because there was space there, but it is a bit chilly out there so only the pink dandelion seeds have sprouted. The trays are now inside and I hope to see lot more seedlings popping up in the next week.

Since I'm trying to find ways to be less wasteful and avoid using plastic, I decided to use my pink soil block maker to make soil blocks and packed them into the plastic trays I already had. The soil/media mix is based off a recipe I found on the internet and uses coconut coir instead of peat for moisture holding. So far the blocks have been fine, but I don't have a plan if I need to "re-pot" or increase the block size. I guess it is a good thing that I started the seeds so late and the plants will still be smallish when I put them in the ground.
