Monday we had another crafternoon get together where we made wreaths! I made a himmeli type wreath out of straws and wire like the himmeli heart I have on one of my gallery walls.
To make this geometric wreath I used only two lengths of straws, full and half. I started with six full length straws and secured them in a hexagon shape. Off of one of the base straws I made two connecting pyramids that form a 3D kite shape (top left in above picture). From there I got a bit more random and started putting straws wherever I felt like; the finished wreath is a skewed shape. Here are some photos from the side angles.
Like the himmeli heart I'll probably keep it these colors for awhile then paint it. One of my inspiration photos had a branch of gold leaves woven through the wreath, I'll probably try that too.
I like it. Wreath making was fun. :)
