Last year I bought one of those nifty retractable screen doors to replace my old hinged screen door. I thought it would be nice for Winslow to look out the door without having to stand on his hind legs to look out the glass. He seemed to like it and I liked it until one day I saw him push the screen out and crawl under it. My fix for this was a plank of six inch tall balsa wood that I would lay across the threshold to block Winslow in. That worked until last month when I could not find him anywhere in the house and realized the little stinker went over the wood then under the screen door. After a few days of keeping the door shut I went out and bought an inexpensive baby gate to keep him inside.
The plain baby gate was fine, but colorful is better so I bought a can of spray paint, removed all the hardware I could, then covered and taped up the rest of the hardware, and took it outside to paint. The new baby gate has been working well. I have seen Winslow stand up, leaning against it though, I'm assuming to see if he can get over it safely. Here is the sad kitty trying to sniff out an escape plan:
Maybe his name should be Harry, Houdini that is.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he's that good at escaping (yet).
