Bath Fizzies - New Recipe Fail

During our last crafternoon we made more bath bombs. This time we did some experimenting with our recipe.

Since citric acid is expensive I decided to try switching out the citric acid and sodium bicarbonate leavening system for baking powder. I also added way less of the leavening so I could add more Epsom salts. Unfortunately our bath fizzies sink to the bottom of the tub and don't really fizz. I'm not sure if it was the quantity of leavening or the fact that citric acid has one of the fastest reaction rates of all leavening acids, possibly a combination.

After finding out these bath balls are duds I have been spending some time thinking about bath bombs so there will be more experimenting in my future!
