I think I've figured out why I haven't gotten any honeyberries in previous years. Honeyberry bushes are the type of fruit tree that needs another variety to pollinate and I noticed that the two bushes of the same variety are blooming while the other variety's (I wish I knew which types they were) flowers are barely starting to open. I think the timing is just enough different that they are not getting pollinated. (I also haven't seen any bees, but the weather has been grey and cool.)

Like usual, the rhubarb is really growing! I forgot to divide them last fall so there will be lots and lots of rhubarb for me to enjoy! The strawberries are waking up too. Last year only two of the four strawberry beds had plants so I've added two babies to the empty beds. I'm planning a four year rotation on strawberries, so I could have left one of them empty, but it looks better with something growing inside. Another thing I forgot to take pictures of, the lavender between the strawberry beds don't seem to have any new growth so they might be dead. The lavender I have in the front yard has new growth, but it is a different variety.

Some new I planted are popping up which is quite exciting! The cherry tree is budding! I think this will be the year that I finally make preserved cherry blossoms. (I better find a recipe and make sure I have all the ingredients.) Also, the weeds in the alley are pretty bad already. This is where I normally grow sunflowers. I was looking yesterday and didn't see any sunflower seedlings popping up yet so my plan is to spray for weeds today and hopefully I don't kill any sunflowers. I'll probably spread out whatever sunflower seeds I have saved just to make sure some grow this year. Keep your fingers crossed for for both the sunflowers and the lavender!
