For my latest knitting project I am knitting in the round and using leftover yarn.

This looks like it would be a really great necklace, but it is really going to be a cover for a plastic milk jug. I was complaining about how I feel milk cartons are superior to plastic milk jugs, but not all grocery stores (the store I do most of my grocery shopping at) carry cartons. My mom suggested I knit a cover for plastic milk jugs to help keep the light out and the temperature in (two of my complaints about plastic jugs). I thought this idea was totally silly, but I am doing it anyways because it is silly and it will be cute.

It turns out that my stitch estimates were totally off so I will be ripping out all my stitches and starting again, casting on significantly fewer stitches. I also got a circular needle set! It is much easier and quicker than using double pointed needles and I don't worry as much about my stitches falling off the needles when I am storing the project.

Update: I closed comments because I was getting way too much spam!

Over the weekend I took a trip up north. Here are some Hipstamatic photos I took around the Lewis Clark valley, the Palouse, and the Spokane area.

The last three photos were taken in the car while driving down the highway. (I was the passenger for two of them.)

Maybe a Skirt

I still haven't figured out what exactly I am going to make with the purple and green fabric, but I am leaning towards combining the fabric to make a skirt. So I started browsing ModCloth to find ideas. Here is what I found:

skirts

1. I think this Tulip Petal Skirt is pretty great. and will maybe look flower like with the purple fabric for the main color and the green for the waistband.
2. This Like a Diamond in the Skirt is a part of this roundup for the waistband; I just love it.
3. Not sure about the buttons on this Top Country Classic Skirt. I like them, but I wonder if I would wear the skirt. I could get some of the neat buttons I keep wanting to buy though.

What do you think? Each piece of fabric is long enough to make a decent length above-the-knee skirt. If I want to add a waistband or some sort of frill (ruffles maybe?) I need to use the second piece of fabric. Since the fabric is a mid-weight cotton the skirt won't be very flowy like skirt number two. Should I make something other than a skirt? What should I do? Please Help!

June Gardening

I put up a trellis for the cucumbers and got sturdy and colorful cages for the tomatoes and bell peppers!

I definitely need to take care of the weeds; I have been a bit lazy lately and have been ignoring my yard work. All my plants are still quite small; it has been a bit chilly around here lately, I hope it warms up a little bit so everything starts to grow!

Fruit Crisps

Food in jars is a bit of a trend lately. I made fruit crisps and put them into small single-serving sized jars so I don't have to share or feel I need to eat all the dessert before it goes bad.

These fruit crisps are made with blueberries, a shredded granny smith apple, and diced rhubarb from my yard. Recently, after making a bunch of crisps at work, I have come to the conclusion that any fruit can make a good crisp. We had a frozen fruit blend of peaches, white peaches, strawberries, blueberries, and honeydew that I made into a crisp and it tasted really great!

These guys are in my freezer waiting to be baked and eaten! If someone wants to visit, I may be willing to share.
