Made for this Bench
The quickly knit yarn bomb was installed on Saturday for International Yarn Bombing Day and is hopefully bringing joy to all that see it. I went to this park and was holding up my knitting to lots of different objects to see where it fit. Some of the poles were much too big and others were a good fit, but the slats on this bench were the perfect size! I quickly stitched it up in the rain then wandered around the park and ate some salmon berries that were ripe! Such a treat!

The Knitting is Ready
I finished knitting the yarn bomb on Tuesday! How am I so ahead? Usually I'm up late Friday adding the finishing touches. Choosing a very simple idea and keeping it small was definitely the way to go when feeling mostly lazy and a little bit obligated to keep your yarn bombing streak going! There is a bit more yarn left over than I was hoping because I didn't do a good job estimating how much yarn I would need to bind off. I could have knit another row or two, but this yarn is basically gone so I'm happy. Now I need to gather my yarn bomb kit so I can hang it up on Saturday! Wish me luck on finding my stash of zipties and a tapestry needle!

Yarn Bomb Progress
I realized Saturday is International Yarn Bombing Day so I pulled out some purple yarn from my stash (per my niece's request) and got to knitting. The plan for this piece is to knit until this yarn is gone then find a place at the park to attach it on Saturday. I first started with a zig zag pattern, but it was too much thinking for me and switched to this broken rib pattern which I only have to pay attention about half the time since it is knit one row then knit, purl the second. Here is my progress:

Snake Yarn Bomb
Saturday was International Yarn Bombing Day and I celebrated by installing this last minute knit snake on the stairs near where my sister lives. It turned out cute and is a bit camouflaged with the ivy. Can you see where it is in the second photo?

Yarn Bomb
I knit this cute little bow and attached it to a pole for International Yarn Bombing Day. Even though I have the occassion marked in my calendar as a reocurring event, it snuck up on me this year and I didn't start knitting until Friday. With such a short timeline I grabbed the top yarn from my bin of cheap yarn and got to work on this bow. I hope people get a little joy when they see it.

Yarn Bomb
I installed this little yarn bomb on a park bench Saturday for International Yarn Bombing Day. Obviously, I changed the yarn from when I first started. It was a quick knit using a simple "bee stitch", but since the yarn was so bulky, I think it looks like a fluffy cloud.

Knitting a Yarn Bomb
Saturday is International Yarn Bombing Day so I started knitting a little something. I'm not very happy with the color/pattern combo so I'll probably be changing to something completely different.

Heart Fair Isle Yarn Bomb
I hung the finished yarn bomb on Saturday! It turned out great and a nice older lady complimented my knitting while I was putting it up!

Pineapple Yarn Bomb
International Yarn Bombing Day was over the weekend and I hung up a pineapple I knit!
I stayed up too late Friday night trying to get the pineapple finished. For the leaves, I wanted them to have shape and be able to move like the bunny ears from my first yarn bomb, so I added wire. I only had thin floral wire so I doubled it up, but it still wasn't very supportive so I tied them up to the pole too. I need to add some heavy gauge wire to my yarn bomb kit for the next time.
The yarn bomb turned out pretty good and looks mostly like a pineapple. I hope people enjoy it.

Knitting Machine
It's that time of year again! International Yarn Bombing Day is next Saturday, June 10th! I've pulled out the knitting machine to get the body of my creation knit more quickly.
I see some late nights this week trying to finish it in time!

Entrelac Yarn Bomb
I hung the yarn bomb! Sunday morning I went out looking for a place for my knitting; I tried an armrest on a bench and a few different poles, which were all too small or too large, before finding this "just right" tree.
Here are a few close up pictures of my entrelac knitting stretched around the tree:

Yarn Bomb WIP
Saturday was International Yarn Bombing Day! I missed it! There are some valid excuses I could share with you, such as I was traveling most of last week, but I got started late(ish) and decided to do things that were not knitting so I didn't put anything up. I did however, finish knitting this rectangle on Sunday.
Since I was not going to be home on Saturday and didn't have an idea of what to make or where to put it, it took me awhile to get started. I finally decided to try a new technique, entrelac, then picked out some yarn and started knitting. Now I need to decide where to put it; I think it should fit around a street sign pole, but it might be kinda loose. My new plan is wander around this weekend and find a home for it. Wish me luck!

Stripe Yarn Bomb & Bikes
Today I'm sharing a little photo update on the stripe yarn bomb. When I popped by the library there were bikes on the bike racks we yarn bombed so I took a quick photo!
In other yarn bomb news, the stack of monsters at the crosswalk are still there. They look a little disheveled though and I haven't snapped a photo.

Stripe Yarn Bomb
The striped yarn bomb made from scraps is done! We covered some bike racks! Unfortunately these didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. My measuring and estimating for stretch worked better with some yarn than others.
See all those corset lacing gaps? They are a real bummer! Check out these nice stretch and tight stitches on the blue stripe below then look at the gap on the yellow, I couldn't even get my zipties tight!
Oh well. Next time I will worry less about the yarn bomb being loose/sliding around and give a few extra stitches so the dang things fit!

I've started work on my next yarn bomb. The monster stack didn't use up enough of the cheap yarn from my stash (which recently grew because my friend Katie's mom gave me a bag of scrap yarn) so I'm knitting lots of stripes on the knitting machine.
Katie helped me scout a good location for this yarn bomb and Chelsea has helped me knit this bit. Unfortunately I don't think this yarn bomb will make much of a dent in the stash (now that I've seen how much yarn I have) so maybe we'll knit some more to cover other things too.

Monster Stack Yarn Bomb
Saturday was International Yarn Bombing Day and I installed my yarn bomb! I think using the knitting machine and finishing the base so quickly had me underestimate the amount of time needed to finish all the other parts; I stayed up very late Friday night finishing this stack of monsters! Thank you Katie for all your help last week!
This stack of monsters is a silly bunch; starting at the bottom we have the largest monster who has tentacles, horns, and a button nose. Moving up the pole is a lizard inspired monster, then a cat with wings, and finally a little monster with fangs.
I used up a lot of cheap yarn from my stash, however there is still quite a bit that I want to get rid of and Katie's mom just gave me a bag of scrap yarn! There is definitely going to be another yarn bomb in my future, probably the near future!

Knitting Machine
International Yarn Bombing Day is next Saturday, the 13th!!!
I have some big plans this year, 90 x 50 inch plans, so I borrowed my mother's knitting machine and finished the base in two evenings! Knitting with a machine is soooooo quick and easy! Here is the yarn bomb base (I stretched it in the yard because #space and #whynot).
The rest of the yarn bomb might be a bit more time consuming; I'm hand knitting some of it, but will use the machine as much as I can!

Floral Yarn Bomb
Saturday was International Yarn Bombing Day! Obviously I participated; I knit (and crochet) two flowers and put them on a bike rack!
